Meet Bernard Nixon! Bernard was recently promoted to Recruiter from our Associate Recruiter program. He adds a witty sense of humor to our eclectic bunch and we look forward to seeing all that he accomplishes.

How did you find out about TruPath?I was connected with TruPath by a recruiter working for a career certification program (Is that ironic? I don’t know)

Favorite thing about what I do?Obviously, there is a certain degree of “tough skin” you have to have as a recruiter, with all of the trials of successfully shepherding a candidate all the way through the hiring process. However, you just can’t beat the genuine connections and conversations you make with candidates, and there is definitely something special about building a rapport with a great candidate.

I enjoy working at TruPath because?: We’re a lean, tight team. Everyone is ready to help each other and contribute to the greater good; and you can’t beat the quality conversation either!

The TruPrinciple that speaks to me the most?Definitely Trust; the entire hiring process is essentially based on trust between the involved parties. There are so many points where the entire process can be thrown off by people “modifying” the truth; two obvious examples are candidates exaggerating their experience, and recruiters hiding the tough aspects of a position. Ultimately, it’s better for everyone to operate in an honest and trustworthy fashion so that everyone involved is saved time and headaches moving forward.

What advice do you have for an aspiring Associate Recruiter?Remember that as important as it is to be receptive to criticism, feedback and advice, taking initiative is really what will get you where you need to go in your career.

One thing people don’t know about me?I used to scuba dive fairly frequently while living overseas.

I am awesome because?: I’m an easy person to get along with, coachable, and I readily empathize with others.

My first vehicle was?My first vehicle was and is a 2008 Kia Spectra; it’s bright red because red goes faster!

My happy place….On a couch with a book in one hand, a glass of wine in the other, and several seasons worth of prestige TV shows ready to watch.

Above all others, this person inspires me the most?Hard to narrow it down to just one; I’m a big fan of great people who are morally “ahead of their time.” Bartolomé de las Casas definitely comes to mind, for his defense of the dignity of native peoples and his empathy that was apparently all too rare in the era in which he lived.

My favorite food is?: I can eat as much spaghetti bolognese as you can throw at me.

Why is TruPath special or how are we different?TruPath is a place where there is real understanding and respect; not just between employees, but also towards candidates and clients. The atmosphere here is very positive, and very focused on teamwork and team results.
